Hamas 'implicitly accepts Israel'

Palestinian militant group Hamas has agreed to a document backing a two-state solution to the conflict with Israel, officials say.

The initiative, devised by Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails,
implicitly recognises the Jewish state.

Israeli TV footage of Hamas spokespersons show them explicitly and emphatically noting that each party retains its charter. If each party retains its charter, the Hamas does not recognize Israel, because the Hamas Charter insists that Israel must be destroyed and that all of Palestine was given by Allah as a holy waqf to the Muslim people.

Rival Palestinian political factions Fatah and Hamas have reached agreement on a common political strategy to try to end a damaging power struggle.

However, Hamas negotiators have denied earlier reports that the deal meant the militants would implicitly recognise Israel - a major policy shift.

Just to make sure, here is the story from Al-Jazeera, so nobody can say we are relying on "Zionist" or "Western" sources: Hamas denies recognising Israel states:

Hamas legislator Salah al-Bardaweel said: "We said we accept a state (in territory occupied) in 1967 - but we did not say we accept two states."

Earlier versions of this story will persist however, and undoubtedly, Noam Chomsky or someone like him will one day soon cite those reports to "prove" that Hamas recognized Israel, but the mean Zionists refused to talk to them and the mean Americans refused to stop their embargo.
