The weather may change, but the climate doesn't. Global warming may over take us, but for most of the world, most of the time, Israel is in deep freeze, no matter what we do. The foes of Israel continue to unleash torrents of villification without any relation to Israeli actions. The invective did not falter after Ehud Olmert's speech calling for peace with the Palestinians and accepting the Arab peace initiative. It didn't dry up after Israel and the Palestinians agreed to a truce. The result of this truce was that Israel stopped its attacks in Gaza, while rockets continued to fall in Sderot, Ashkelon and elsewhere in the Western Negev. The Abu Mazen - Olmert meeting and the promises of more Israeli concessions brought only calls for broadening the truce. As far as the EU is concerned, it seems, it would be perfectly OK if Qassam rockets fell on Kfar Saba as well as Sderot.
When at length, under extreme public pressure to do something about the incessant rain of Qassam rockets, the Israeli government finally announced that it would target the criminals launching the rockets, the BBC and others, who had largely ignored the agony of Sderot,
It is unimaginable that the decision of any other country to defend itself would produce such villification.
The nature of the "resistance" is revealed by by an exclusive Jerusalem Post report showing that
Qassam rocket launches are contracted on a piece-work basis by the Hezbollah. Concessions will not stop the rockets, because the Hezbollah are not interested in concessions to Mahmoud Abbas. The rocket fire is not the result of any Israeli policies. Nonetheless, there are those who continue to blame Israel for it, and continue to highlight the suffering of the Palestinians, ignoring the collective punishment of the people of Sderot. The people of Sderot are undergoing an ordeal of collective punishment for no crime at all. They did nothing! No human rights groups care about the collective punishment of the people of Sderot, which is the direct result of the genocidal policies of the Hezbollah and Hamas.
Honest reporting tells the story of Sderot that mainstream media are ignoring (reproduced in full below). We must not let people forget. Remind the media, remind the Human Rights groups that Jews have rights too, remind the rabbis who preach compassion that Jews deserve compassion too. Those who preach compassion and rights only for Palestinian Arabs reveal themselves to be frauds.

This communique is dedicated to the residents of Sderot and the two teenage boys injured in a Qassam missile attack.

Two 14 year old Israeli boys from Sderot - Adir Bas'ad and his friend Matan Cohen - lie seriously injured in an Ashkelon hospital following a Qassam barrage from Gaza on Tuesday night. Bas'ad was so badly injured by shrapnel that surgeons battled for over 10 hours to stabilize him. Cohen remains in a moderate condition.
The mainstream media continue to downplay or even ignore the continuous Qassam strikes against Sderot and surrounding communities by Palestinian terrorists, describing Qassam missiles as "harmless" or merely "home-made rockets".
Commenting on the daily threat to Sderot, the Jerusalem Post points out: "It has become a curious game of Palestinian Roulette ... The rocket that fell in a Sderot nursery school playground could have, with a little less luck, taken the lives of many toddlers."
HR VISITS SDEROT - VIDEO MESSAGE FROM AN EMPTY PLAYGROUND
The HR team visited Sderot in the immediate aftermath of the latest Qassam strikes to see for ourselves the impact of Qassam terror on this besieged town. We ask why Israeli children never earn the iconic status and outpouring of sympathy that the media accredit to other child victims of war or terror in other parts of the world (including the Palestinian areas). Click here to view a short video message from our time in Sderot.
KNOW THE FACTS - REMIND THE MEDIA
- Since June 2004, seven Israelis (at least eight according to our count), one foreign worker, and two Palestinian civilians, have been killed by Palestinian missile fire from Gaza, and over 100 have been wounded. Additionally, homes and property have been damaged and destroyed.
- Since the beginning of the ceasefire at the end of November, over 60 Qassams have been fired into Israel from the Gaza Strip.
- Despite the continuing Qassam terror, Israeli PM Ehud Olmert has met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, while
easing restrictions on the Palestinian population that is not involved in terror activities.
No country in the world should be expected to tolerate missile strikes against its citizens on its undisputed sovereign territory.
Yet, the media have framed the story in such as way that Israel is expected to tolerate this. Israel has exercised maximum restraint despite her legitimate right to self-defense. In the event of an Israeli response to the Qassam fire, the media will have played into the terrorists' hands by presenting Israel as the aggressor or bad guy.
The AP, for example, reports that "Israel threatens to renew attacks", attributing Israeli reaction rather than Palestinian terrorism for "threatening to derail" the ceasefire. AFP, reporting on the continuous Qassam fire, even believes that "the truce has generally held".
Write to your local media if you feel that they are inaccurately framing this story or failing to acknowledge the continuous Palestinian breaches of the ceasefire. Full
