Israelis have finally scored a hit on the Internet. It's about time. But don't celebrate until you learn the nature of this success.
I didn't want to write about this. The truth is, I am ashamed. However, it is not a secret. It is time to discuss the problem in the open. Everyone can find out for themselves that pro-Israel, pro-Zionist and pro-Jewish causes get short shrift in the Google search engine. On the other hand, treatises about the racist nature of Zionism, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the Jewish conspiracy, the alleged ethnic cleansing of Palestine, why Jews hate Zionism and why everyone hates the Jews (justifiably it is alleged) abound. An elementary school student searching for historical information about Zionism will find a picture of Jabotinsky "his Fascist Uniform," and will be invited to read "all about Zionism and its pernicious influence." They will "learn" that all Christian Zionists are rabid fanatics, that the Holocaust is a myth created by Zionists, that Ariel Sharon gave a racist interview to a non-existent general Merham, and that Zionism is reponsible for the rise of Nazism, as well as for the sad state of Arab society in Palestine, which was a veritable paradise of plenty and ethnic coexistence before the arrival of the Zionists. See
Zionism on the Web for an assessment of one aspect of this problem. If you do not believe, then enter the word "Jew" or "Zionist" or the phrase "Holocaust myth" in the Google search engine, and see for yourself.
These Web sites do not necessarily represent the majority opinion of Jews or non-Jews. Quite often they represent the opinions of a few questionable individuals or groups such as the Storm Front, the Biblebelieves, Ahmadinejad-kissing Netureh Karteh, or the conspiracy theorist Jeff Rense.
Nor is the prominence of those hate sites an anti-Semitic plot of the Google search engine company by any means. The
Google algorithm is impersonal. It may be changed from time to time, but it does not discriminate against Jews. It counts the number of links to a Web site and to a particular article that uses a particular search phrase, and the article at the most authoritative site, with the most links is the first one to be retrieved for that phrase.
The problem is in large part the fault of the Zionist Jews, like everything else in the world. Jews are supposed to be clannish joiners. Alas, it is not true of Zionists! Zionist Jews are discriminating, unlike our enemies. The Marxist Front for the Liberation of Everyone and Murder of Zionists, and the Shiite Front for the bringing of the Mahdi and Murder of the Zionists, and the Sunni Al-Qaeda front for the Khalifa and Murder of Zionists will link to each other and support each other -- and they will link to the True Torah Holocaust Denying Jews, the Bundist Trotskyite Jews and any other anti-Zionist Jews. The Christian spreaders of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion will gladly link to the Muslim Radioislam and the Pagan Storm Front and even the Neturei Karteh. Zionist Jews, however, are very particular and suspicious about linking to each other.
If my great grandfather was a
Chassid from Medzhibezh, how could I link to someone whose great grandfather was a
Mitnaged from Vilna? If your father was against raising taxes in 1956, and mine was for the measure, how could you link to me? If my organization wants to build in Tel Aviv, while yours wants to build in Karnei Shomron, then clearly we are enemies. Even worse, if your organization promotes the Geneva accords, and mine promotes the Ayalon-Nusseibeh agreement, we are clearly competitors. It wouldn't do to link to the competition, would it?
As a fairly veteran Webmaster and more recent inhabitant of the "blogosphere," ('blog' and 'blogosphere' are two of my most unfavorite words) I have exchanged links with sites in Lebanon, Egypt UAE and Africa, having all manner of political opinions. No problem It is only a problem exchanging lnks with Jewish Web sites and bloggers. One lady who uses her blog to promote Zionism, and is as avid for the cause of Israel as I am, requested to know my entire family history and political affiliations before linking. I will do anything to promote the cause of Israel. I provided a history that went back to my great grandfather in Jerusalem, my grandfathers who founded Poalei Tziyon, my relatives who fought in all the undergrounds of the Zionist movement, as well as my current political writings. Alas, none of this was enough. Whatever political opinions this person has, they apparently don't precisely match my own, and those of the people who write at our Web sites.
But, as I noted, supporters of Israel can take heart. Jews are not unaware of the power of the Internet. As we learn from Yediot Ahronot, an ambitious blogger and supporter of Zionism has harnessed the power of Google. He is not a leftist self-hating Jew either, but a true-blue and white supporter of the right. One of the crowd who are always pleading for "unity," always reminding us that we should not quarrel with the Israeli government. He is one of those who complain that the left-right split is killing us, and we must not air our differences in public.
Our hero, a veritable Judah Maccabee of the blogosphere, pleaded for links. The faithful Zionists responded to the call. Thanks to his great work on behalf of the Zionist cause, if you search for
"Kishalon Harutz", meaning "complete failure" in Google, you will get to the biography of a certain Middle East politician. Is it Gamal Abdul Nasser, instigator and loser of the
6 day war, whose name is blackened by these Herculean efforts on behalf of the Zionist cause? No. Is it Saddam Hussein who is the object of this constructive Zionist endeavor? Guess again. Is it the Holocaust denying Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? Alas no. It is Ehud Olmert, Prime Minister of Israel.
All that work to label Olmert a failure! Olmert's accomplishments or lack of them in the fields of peace, war and economics speak for themselves and do not need amplification. It doesn't do any honor to the Zionist cause to label him, nor much harm to Olmert. Won't the anti-Zionists call him worse things then failure? Why not leave it to them, and expend your efforts on promoting Israel?
As for Olmert, in a democracy people get the kind of leaders they deserve. If he is incompetent, there is a way to remedy the problem.

Right-wing internet prank places prime minister's resume as first hit for ‘complete failure’ on Hebrew search engine
Dudi Goldman Published: 01.15.07, 11:06
No one likes to hear that they are a complete failure, especially not on the most popular internet search engine in the world.
The winner of this dreadful title was Prime Minister Ehud Olmert , who fell victim to an internet prank by right-wing activists.
As a result of the prank, anyone who looked up the words “kishalon charutz” (complete failure) in Google’s Hebrew site, would find themselves looking through Olmert’s resume.
A 20 year-old blogger who did not particularly like the prime minister initiated the prank. He turned to hundreds of his blog’s readers published on a popular Israeli blog site and asked them to add links to their sites through the words “complete failure” which would redirect the view to Olmert’s sites.
The prank was similar to one initiated by radical democrats against US Pre

Has or is anyone looking into the show "Democracy Now" with Amy Goodman! Isn't she one of those "self-hating jews" who sides with the Palestinians and even "jihadists"?

OK, it's a google prank. The same was done with all the presidential candidates. I don't take it seriously.
On a more serious note -- I frankly wonder what DOES constitute a "supporter of Israel?" And, no, it's not always the "self-hating Jews" who defame Israel.
I just finished reading "An able advocate for the Palestinian cause" by a self-proclaimed "supporter of Israel."
Indeed. It's breath-taking, if not laughable. Yet, this is what constitutes "support for Israel," advising readers of the wondrous merits of a book written by a former pro-PLO supporter, now elevated to a professorship. So, if this is what can be expected from "supporters of Israel", then is it any wonder, any mystery at all, about why Israel's enemies grow strong?
I just hope I do not run into anymore self-proclaimed "supporters of Israel!" Spare me!
