The pro-Israel-Jewish Blogosphere - an erratic review

In frank imitation of the moveable blog feast, Haveil Havalim (see Jewish Blogging ), I have decided to launch my own erratic, periodic review of pro-Israel and Jewish blogs - and to encourage others to do the same. Let me know (gently, please!) if you find this useful or not. Please also, feel free to suggest articles to be included for next time. Did President Bush insult me, Obama and J Street in the Knesset?

In his historic address to the Israeli Knesset, President Bush said:

It is a rare privilege for the American President to speak to the Knesset. (Laughter.) Although the Prime Minister told me there is something even rarer -- to have just one person in this chamber speaking at a time. (Laughter.)

Being Pro-Israel - a platform for everyone

Jeremy Ben Ami, who runs the J-Street lobby, "explained" his version of being pro-Israel in the Washington Post (see J-Street:Myths about Myths about being pro-Israel. Shmuel Rosner posted a reasonable rejoinder in Slate (See my comments at What is pro Israel?). The bottom line about any lobby group or political position is what they do, what activities they undertake and not what slogans they use.

Meeting Iran half way

A few years ago I was engaged in an animated multi-way debate with American and other foreign policy analysts who insisted that Iran poses no existential danger to Israel. They reasoned that Iran could not realistically use nuclear weapons against Israel even if they got them, and they pointed out Iran has no border with Israel, and would have no way of invading Israel. Therefore, they could attack under a nuclear umbrella that prevented massive retaliation. So how, they asked could Iran constitute an existential danger to Israel?
