in 1912 Note that there is almost no development outside the old city,
except for Jewish colonies, Christian religious institutions and concessions to
the European powers..
Scattered suburbs like Sheikh Jarrah had few inhabitants and were not worthy of
inclusion.
The village of Shiloah was a Jewish village, called Kafr Silwan in Arabic.
